Key Responsibilities Core Proofreading Tasks <ul> <li>Review documents for overall sense and accuracy, including: <ul> <li>Facts: Verify phone numbers, URLs, names, titles, trademarks, dates, and service marks, and other detailed information.</li> <li>Style: Ensure consistency in fonts, headings, and page layout.</li> <li>Language: Check spelling, grammar, punctuation, and typographical standards.</li> <li>Validate cross-references, folios, tables of contents, and indexes.</li> <li>Confirm proper word, line, and page breaks.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Adhere to Fidelity’s Content Style Guide, design system and brand guidelines to create consistency across all materials reviewed.</li> <li>Flag unclear or awkward phrasing without rewriting content (unless copyediting is requested).</li> <li>Help to establish a process for using AI tools such as Jasper in Fidelity’s proofreading/QA practice.</li> </ul> Proofreading assignments may include any of the following: <ul> <li>Check Edits: Compare layouts against backups; verify factual changes and ensure no copy is dropped during reflow.</li> <li>Full document reads: Light copyediting; identify and suggest revisions for run-on sentences, redundancies, and confusing content; recommend improvements for clarity and readability; perform two full reads before file release.</li> <li>Proof A vs. B: Conduct word-for-word comparisons between versions, including graphics and images.</li> <li>Test Messages: Validate email content against approved PDFs or spec sheets; check links and discrepancies.</li> <li>Tech QA: For web pages, verify links and breadcrumbing; for fillable PDFs, confirm field functionality and tab order.</li> </ul> Qualifications Previous Ad Agency experience preferred <ul> <li>BA or equivalent preferred (English, Communications).</li> <li>Familiarity with—or willingness to learn—AI tools such as Jasper for proofreading and QA.</li> <li>3–5 years of proofreading/copyediting experience in marketing, publishing, or related fields; financial or advertising agency experience is a plus.</li> <li>Strong command of English language, grammar, and typographical standards.</li> <li>Ability to interpret and apply standard proofreaders’ marks.</li> <li>Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.</li> <li>Comfortable working under tight deadlines.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.</li> <li>Ability to work with and adhere to established style and brand guidelines.</li> <li>Candidate will be required to pass a proofreading test.</li> <li>Exceptional attention to detail and ability to enforce Fidelity’s style and usage guidelines and design system.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Additional skills required: <ul> <li>Accuracy and attention to detail.</li> <li>Strong organizational and follow-through abilities.</li> <li>Client-focused problem-solving.</li> <li>Ability to work collaboratively across teams.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> The hourly pay rate range for this position is $20.00 – $28.00 per hour.
